E-folio – Recommended Browser Configuration

1. Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.5 or higher recommended.

To check the version you are currently using, start Internet Explorer and click on the "Help" menu item found at the top of the screen to the right of the "Tools" menu. Next, click on "About Internet Explorer". A dialog box should appear and have Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 (or higher) listed as the version.

2. Encryption Capabilities: 128-bit or higher.

To check encryption level (cipher strength), click on the "Help" menu and go to "About Internet Explorer". In that dialog box, the cipher strength should read at least 128-bit.

3. To download the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer for free:

Click the link and choose the Internet Explorer version listed in the "Popular Downloads" section (currently Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1).

4. Configuration of Internet Explorer: Setting the page refresh to every visit to the page.

To set the browser to "Check for newer versions of stored pages, every visit to the page", do the following:

1. Click on the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen.
2. Click "Internet Options".
3. Click the "Settings" button in the "Temporary Internet files" section.
4. Under "Check for newer versions of stored pages", choose the "Every visit to the page" option.
5. To download the latest version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader for free:

Click the link and use the "download" button.

6. Internet Connection Speed:
• Due to the amount of data passed through Efolio and the fact that it is an interactive site, the faster the connection speed the better. T3, T1, and DSL lines and Cable modems will allow the fastest access. A typical web page should load in 1-3 seconds using these types of connections. If your using a T3 or T1 connection and it seems slow, review the following with your I.T. department:

Check how the T1 line is "partitioned"… i. e., 1/2 for web page, ¼ uploads, ¼ for employee internet use, etc. There may be some adjustments that can be made to improve speed. Who needs the most bandwidth & why?

• Access to Efolio can be achieved through a dial up connection, but pages will take more time to load. A 56K connection will let you navigate Efolio and view most portfolio sizes, but may be inadequate for your needs.
